Adidas Originals Superstar sneakers Street Style - how to wear them?

So I bought Lil' Brigs #1 some Adidas Originals Superstars months ago and thought they were so cute, I hunted down a pair for myself (and decided to get one for Lil' Brigs #2 as well, haha!). Seeing Adidas' trademark three-stripes brings me back to my school days, when an Adidas navy tracksuit was our school uniform back in Brazil. Seeing we're right in the middle of Winter here Down Under, I collected a few pics of outfits including these shoes (apologies, I collected them for myself and didn't take note of the original sources, if you recognize your picture, please let me know so I can credit you).

Love the Superstars with wide-leg pants, the fact that these are black and leather makes it even more perfect
Nice and cozy with a big coat thrown on
Love the distressed jeans and that gorgeous coat!
Ah...to be this tall!
Even Taylor Tomasi Hill loves her Superstars!
My look of late: beanie, skinny jeans and oversized coat
pics: not my own.

Do you own a pair of Adidas Superstars? How do you like wearing yours?

PS. I bought mine (and my little ones') pair of Superstar sneaks directly from Adidas (here)

Madewell - a cartful for a pennie

Oops, I drafted this post a few days ago, only to find out the discount code I wanted to share with you has expired! Boo hoo, because I was about to place a second order!  Well, this is what I managed to nab before the code expired (bar the 'Paris' tee, which was one of the many items in my 'shopping bag' for my 'Madewell Shopping Spree' take 2 - doh!).

I have never bought from Madewell before (and it's such a shame they don't ship directly to Australia), so I can't wait to see how these items look in real life.  I went a little crazy with one sweater, buying it in three colourways, but I really loved its casual elegance and simplicity:

A night at the ballet with 'Cinderella'.

Like many other 'girls', I have always loved the ballet.  As a little girl, I dreamed of taking ballet classes, but since I had asthma I was sent to swimming classes instead.  I lived vicariously through my friends, and later on, through the ballet performances I watched.  It goes without saying that I love watching 'So you think you can dance (US)', and will even admit to loving the movie 'Centrestage' (oh, the shame!).  Unfortunately Mr Brigs didn't enjoy the one and only ballet I took him to, and it has it has been at least 4-5 years since I last watched my last ballet performance.

When the Australian Ballet Company kindly offered me a ticket to their opening performance of 'Cinderella', I ballottéd (well, in my head anyway) and said 'yes' before you could say 'arabesque'.

'Cinderella' got more than a makeover by fairy-godmother/father choreographer Alexai Ratmansky.  Fusing wit and flair with classical technique, the former artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet and now resident choreographer of American Ballet Theatre created a modern-day fairytale with loveable characters, with a healthy dose of  freshness and humour.  Danced to Sergei Prokofiev's beguiling and melodious score (played by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra), against surrrealist-inspired sets and costumes by French designer Jérôme Kaplan, this new Cinderella is a fantasy land of 1940s glamour, complete with a lips-shaped sofa and Schiaparelli-esque shoe-hat, a nod to Salvador Dali's surrealist world.

'Cinderella' will be performed at the Adelaide Festival Centre from the 4th to the 10th of July, and you can still purchase tickets to most performances here

I wish tomorrow's matinee sessions weren't sold out, would have loved to have taken Lil' Brigs 1 to see this!

The fringed dresses by Jerome Kaplan were amongst my favourite costumes of this ballet, the movement it created by the Australian Ballet dancers to Alexei Ratmansky's choreography was simply mesmerizing.

The 'not-so-wicked' stepsisters and stepmother were brilliantly entertaining, and their dancing so incredible! I absolutely loved their costumes for the Ball, do they come in my size?
My 1940's vintage dress and Assad Mounser 'tiara', Chanel Reissue and Valentino Rockstud pumps:

Valentino Rockstud heels (available here), Celine knot bracelet, Balenciaga bow ring, Sarah and Sebastian Line ring, Trace Bud Ring, Petite Pearl Ring, Aurelie Bidermann Love Ring, Cos wrap ring, Serge Lutens Fleur D'oranger perfume, Chanel reissue bag (occasionally you may be lucky to find one here), Chanel nailpolish in 'ballerina'.

Thanks Carmen and The Australian Ballet for my lovely night out! I had a 'Ball'!

Zara shopping spree - sale now on!

So today marks the start of the coldest month here Down Under...clearly I seem to be in denial about that fact as I have gone a mini-shopping spree at Zara, all Spring and Summer pieces! Bar the first and last piece below, all other items are/were on sale, and I have a few pieces for the little ones on their way too:

Ah, Instagram...I first saw this picture below on Zara's official Instagram page, fell in love, and quickly noted the item number and added it to my shopping cart.  One of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe is a silk chiffon hoodie jacket I've had for oh, well over 10 years.  Even though this lacks the hood, it has that same casual luxe sporty vibe I love:

Cardigan with patch pockets

I've had my eye on this jacket for a few weeks now, as it has been sitting in my 'shopping bag' for a few weeks now.  Another favourite piece of mine is a yellow D&G tweed blazer/jacket, but this sportier take on the yellow tweed is too much to resist.  Love that it looks like a Chanel boucle meet a sporty bomber, with the lovely white trims to freshen it up even more:

I plan on teaming the jacket above with this skirt below (and of course other bottoms).  I usually shy away from white, as much as I love it, because it gets dirty by me simply looking at it, but I couldn't resist this, I love that it looks feminine yet 'clean' and funky:

Flared skirts were my favourite items in my wardrobe, and this fabric reinvents it with a fresh funky minimal flair...

Adjustable pearl ring:

Ah, so I have the bracelet, I couldn't resist getting the ring too:

Have you gone crazy at Zara this season too (this is my 2nd installment of purchases from this collection, yikes)! Which pieces did you get (or want to get)?
