Taylor Tomasi Hill - Queen of Accessories Pt 3: Utilitarian Chic

Those who read this blog regularly may know of my 'slight' obsession with trench coats...love them! I am also a fan of clothing that have pockets and have a 'utilitarian' feel to them, toughening up an otherwise 'girly' outfit...Well, Taylor certainly accomplishes this beautifully:

Trench coat with floral print - gorgeous! Also, love those Dries Van Noten sandals (similar to mine, but these straps are more delicate, I wish I had this pair also...greedy? Who, moi?)

Those Kenzo boots are seriously incredible! Love the flirty lace skirt with the pocketed vest and Chanel 2.55 bag - Taylor loves wearing it across the body, practical: it frees up the hands!

Cargo pants and Proenza Schouler heels - casual elegance (same scarf - different seasons)

Serious accessorizing!

Trench coat and striped top? Two of my favourite clothing items put together!

I cannot get enough of this Comme des Garcons jacket

Taylor Tomasi Hill - Queen of Accessories Pt 1 - Intro

Taylor Tomasi Hill's style is effortless, fun and fresh, expertly accessorized (she is, after all, Accessories Director at Marie Claire, and was previously at Teen Vogue) and layered (I especially love her use of scarves), with a penchant for electric blue (which I will show you in an upcoming post), which complements her colouring (and striking red hair) beautifully...

Olivia Palermo - the real Blair Waldorf

I have never watched 'The Hills' or 'The City', and only discovered Olivia Palermo's stunning style through magazines (and street style blogs), and wondered who she was...She reminds me of 'Blair Waldorf', with her impeccably styled hair, preppy 'Upper East Side' style, and gorgeous smile. Like Leighton Meester (who plays Blair Waldorf), I prefer Olivia as a brunette.

Palermo is a master at blending inexpensive pieces, high-end designer items, and vintage articles to establish her sophisticated style; from Zara to Topshop, Ann Taylor and Hermes. She keeps things interesting by trying several different shapes and lengths, rather than playing it safe in a single silhouette; and has a love for blazers (I absolutely love blazers), as well as opaque stockings (keeping stylish in wintry weather).

Her shopping rule (and a good one):
Always try to buy things that I know will work with what I have in my closet, or something that I know I’ll grow into.

I particularly like her 'casual' outfits, but they are hard to find online...but even 'casual' she exudes a sophistication and elegance, even in very distressed jeans!

Yasmin Sewell - the girl from Oz Pt 1: A Touch Bohemian

Yasmin Sewell's style is another I absolutely love...sometimes bohemian, sometimes a little boyish, it always has a carefree yet elegant vibe to it, with carefully chosen pieces expertly worn together, that once again, does not scream a certain label or designer, and always looks understated & effortless.
