Haute Couture Spring 2012: Elie Saab, Valentino, Alexis Mabille and Giambattista Valli

Elie Saab

With a rainbow of pastel sorbet shades of pink, peach, yellow, mint green, and baby blue, there was a light-as-air feel to Elie Saab's collection, which I am sure we will be seeing on the red carpet:

The designers at Valentino also sought a 'deep lightness' to their collection, with diaphanous volume beautifully exemplified in dresses with up to five layers of lace and organza.

Giambattista Valli

But I do love blue...Karl Lagerfeld offered in his Haute Couture collection 150 different shades of blue, in beautifully elegant silhouettes, some of which were reminiscent of 'homie boys', as the designer describes it: the designer said, "like boys whose jeans are slipping off. But somehow, elegantly so?
