Two weeks ago I went on an impromptu weekend trip to Sydney. I bought my tickets, packed my bags (for myself and Lil' J #2) and left the house all within the hour. I consider myself to be a pretty good packer (most of the time - although I always have a nagging feeling I've left something important out), and if it weren't for the huge stack of nappies in my bag I wouldn't have required to check-in my luggage. But from time to time I have doubts, while I try to maximise the outfits from as few pieces as I can manage (a must-do when travelling with kids/babies, as most of the suitcase is taken up with their stuff!).
When I received my Goop email today (Gwyneth Paltrow's blogsite, for those who don't know), I shamelessly print screened the entire post, as I found it absolutely brilliant for inspiration! I am posting it practically in its entirety here for my own reference, so I know I can look back at this page easily at any time.
This Goop post was sponsored by net-a-porter, so you can find all the items listed there. Obviously, we needn't pack the exact same items, but can find our own alternatives in our wardrobe (whenever possible). Because I print screened these pictures, clicking on 'get the look' will not lead you to the product page, so I listed a few items beneath the picture for those who are interested.
How to Pack:
"The trick is to think it through before you go, pack key interchangeable pieces and to not be afraid to wash clothes at the hotel, a local laundry, or even in your sink (my mom has a friend who travels with a teeny bottle of Woolite to wash clothes in her hotel bathroom)."
Gwyneth Paltrow
Proenza Schouler PS1 large satchel, Victoria Beckham duffel bag (the most stylish and expensive duffel bag I've ever seen), J Brand Maria jeans
Snap! I have both the Lanvin ballet flats and Rag & Bone Newbury boots, the ballet flats are usually my staple for travel, T by Alexander Wang tops
Jimmy Choo Anouk Patent Pumps, Emilio Pucci blazer, Rag & Bone Newbury boots, Brian Atwood Teana zipped ankle boots
Brian Atwood Teana zipped ankle boots
Chinti & Parker striped top (they always have the best striped tops!), See by Chloe Albana leather tote (gorgeous!),
Proenza Schouler PS11 bag (sigh, this is so gorgeous, I also am a huge fan of the PS1), Rag & Bone Harrow boot
Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses (classic)
Eugenia Kim feather embellished fedora hat
Boy, Band of Outsiders Schoolboy blazer, Kain washed silk tank,
L'Agence striped cotton shirt dress
I liked some of the tips below (mostly 4 and 5), and have always rolled my clothes when packing.

If anyone is lucky enough to be packing for a getaway...have a fabulous trip!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
