In my mind, the 'return of the Harem pants' started last year with Marc Jacobs' SS07 collection, and his billowy pants:

It seems this 'trend' was not as transient as most believed it would be, making more than one appearance in the 2008/2009 shows, including Phi, Michael Kors, Vera Wang, Max Azria, Giorgio Armani, and Diane Von Furstenberg (to name a few), each giving their own 'stamp' to this 'look':

As an admirer of all things drapey, I am drawn to its 'easy-factor', comfortable appearance, flowy & drapey nature. I recently purchased a pair, hoping they would hide a multitude of sins, alas, I look nothing like Alexandra Elbim (pictured below in her YSL jumpsuit), and now wonder whether (like everything else) these pants only suit the long and lithe in figure:

I'd love to read your thoughts on 'drapey/harem' pants!
My Sass & Bide Harem Draped Pants
I really like them. I also really like the johdpurs that have been around for ages, and would love a pair of those, too.
ReplyDeleteSome women wear them well but I'm personally not interested in having my crocth be at my knees...it really just doesn't suit my style. But they are innovative and fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree that I couldn't do the low-crotch ones (the one I bought are 'normal' crotch', but I think perhaps I'm too short & stumpy, I envy those that make everything look like couture too, SO unfair!
ReplyDeletei have some killer drop crotch. i absoutely love them.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so envious! There are certain looks that I just cannot pull off! Drop-crotch is one of them. Maybe if I grew 4 inches? (Otherwise I look like a penguin, which is what I fear the S&B harem pants make me look like, doh!)
ReplyDeletei wish i could pull this off but im to short to. i love the way the girls over at kingdom of style and susie bubble do drop-crotched pants
