I found it: the Instagram bag!

Ok, it is no secret that I have a bit of love for Instagram.  The beautiful images in square format (from landscapes to food, and occasionally, fashion) and the lovely community there make it an amazing and inspiring platform.

When I first spotted this Instagram-inspired leather bag on Vogue Italia Fashion (Gioellio) Editor Georgia Tal I had hearts for eyes (I am an emoticon over-user, not using them feels like talking without any expressions on my face).  At long last, I tracked it down, placed myself on the waitlist, and when it came back in stock, I pounced.

Sure, I will get strange looks when I use it outside of my house, and will probably get glared at by Mr Brigs (who is not uber fond of Instagram, or the time I spend there), but I just couldn't resist...

How could I?

So in love with the No. 21 Bow Mule Sandals (available in a beautiful olive colour at Selfridges

Me - Jeans: Frame Denim Le Garcon (available at Forward, and Net-a-Porter) , Pumps: Isabel Marant Poppy (leopard version available at Forward), Bag: Mua Mua (from Browns Fashion)
Bag: Mua Mua Leather App bag (from Browns Fashion)
Photo: by me.

The leather is uber soft, and I love the chain.  Sure it is uber kitsch...but sometimes it is good to have a bit of fun!

MBFWA Day 1 Street Style - What I/we wore

Apologies for going MIA once again, it has been a hectic few week weeks, leading up to MBFWA, the week at the Australian Fashion Week itself, and then coming back to the little ones being on school holidays.

It was an action-packed but lovely week spent in Sydney for MBFWA with my sister Elisa (who also blogs at Jadorais), spent to-ing and fro-ing to shows, squeezing a bite to eat whenever we could, and laughing a lot at trying to snap pictures (I am hands down the most camera awkward/shy person ever, truly).

I will save 'What we saw' for a further post.  I am afraid I didn't get the chance/time to snap 'Street Style' shots like I did to previous fashion weeks, but took a few for day 1, so will share them with you here.

What I wore:

Dress: COS (a few seasons old), Cuffs and Collar: Etsy (cuffs from Etsy US and collar from Etsy UK), Bag: Chanel quilted Boy (some available at Real Real and Vestiaire Collective), Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana (available from Net a Porter and Bergdorf Goodman), Shoes: Aska Collection Harem loafers (I found them TTS - in case I get asked).
Cuffs and Collar: Etsy (cuffs from Etsy US and collar from Etsy UK), Bag: Chanel quilted Boy (some available at Real Real and Vestiaire Collective), Sunglasses: Ray Ban Polarized folding Wayfarer, Shoes: Aska Collection Harem loafer, Headband: Assad Mounser
PS. Little Picture from when I visited the Chanel Couture Ateliers in Paris
Please excuse my goldfish expression.  I stumbled on this picture of myself by accident, and had no idea I was being photographed, haha.  Photo by Jamie Cho (Sydney-based photographer). Love my Sarah Frances Kuhn camera strap which has served me well quite a few years now.
Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana (available from Net a Porter and Bergdorf Goodman)
 Which way again?
The best thing about this year's MBFWA was attending it with my sister Elisa (of Jadorais)
Day 1 we managed to squeeze a little lunch between shows, yay.

What they wore:

My sister Elisa, blogger for Jadorais:
Blouse: Daniel Avakian (whose show we watched later that day), Clutch: West Elm (lent this to her, and loved the pop of colour it added to the outfit), Boots: Alexander McQueen (love! A few seasons old I'm afraid), Leather shorts: Blessed are the Meek, Leather Coat: Alk'aemi (I have loved this Perth-based label for over a decade!)

Elisa and I are fans of Kerrie Hess's beautiful work, so I just had to snap this picture, she was a vision in this beautiful outfit.
Absolutely adored Carmen Hamilton's (of The Chronicles of Her) pyjama stripes by Bassike, and am trying very hard to resist this Balenciaga tote (and the smaller crossbody version too - somebody please stop me! Or not)

Met this beauty, fellow Ministry of Talent (and former Adelaidean) blogger of 'Friend in Fashion' Jasmin Howell in a gorgeous Macgraw ensemble I just loved (we saw their show that day, and I'm already coveting way too many pieces).
The one and only Christine Centenera, by the time I decided to go for it and try for a picture I was a little late, but ah well...

All pictures taken by me (except for the ones I'm in, of course, those were taken by my sister Elisa)

Adidas Originals Superstar sneakers Street Style - how to wear them?

So I bought Lil' Brigs #1 some Adidas Originals Superstars months ago and thought they were so cute, I hunted down a pair for myself (and decided to get one for Lil' Brigs #2 as well, haha!). Seeing Adidas' trademark three-stripes brings me back to my school days, when an Adidas navy tracksuit was our school uniform back in Brazil. Seeing we're right in the middle of Winter here Down Under, I collected a few pics of outfits including these shoes (apologies, I collected them for myself and didn't take note of the original sources, if you recognize your picture, please let me know so I can credit you).

Love the Superstars with wide-leg pants, the fact that these are black and leather makes it even more perfect
Nice and cozy with a big coat thrown on
Love the distressed jeans and that gorgeous coat!
Ah...to be this tall!
Even Taylor Tomasi Hill loves her Superstars!
My look of late: beanie, skinny jeans and oversized coat
pics: not my own.

Do you own a pair of Adidas Superstars? How do you like wearing yours?

PS. I bought mine (and my little ones') pair of Superstar sneaks directly from Adidas (here)

MBFWA Street Style Pt 2: Nicole Warne (aka Gary Pepper Girl)

Besides attending the fashion shows, it is always fun seeing people in real life that I had only previously seen in 2D via my computer screen.  The ever so beautiful (and whom I want to learn how to draw a winged liner from) Nicole Warne was one such person (who blogs at Gary Pepper Girl).  My sister had never seen her before, but was captivated by her too, and we really wanted to reach out and touch her Karla Spetic fuzzy jumper:

I am too shy to actually request someone to pose for me (as I'm actually there to attend shows, and am no street style photographer), so only piggy back at times when other do so, haha.  Maybe sometime I'll pretend I'm photographer...
Wearing Alice McCall - which was shown on the runway that very same day.

all pics are taken by me via iPhone and camera.

MBFWA Street Style Pt1: The Street Style Photographers

I am back from MBFWA and had a blast, lots of yummy food, got plenty wet (what was with the horrid weather, Sydney?) and am slightly fashioned out, haha.

There were quite a few differences between attending Paris Couture Week (which I'm afraid I barely got to blog about, but may do so soon - better late than never, right)? and MBFWA (Mercedez Benz Fashion Week Australia - aka Australian Fashion Week).  One of them being I got to see several Street Style Photographers whose work I admire, and had only ever seen on my computer screen.  I didn't get to photograph them all, but I snapped a few sneaky pics, which I'm sharing here completely unedited because I still don't haven't replaced the Photoshop I accidentally deleted last year (oops!).

Guess who's kicks are these?
Yep, Phil Oh from Mr Street Pepper (left) and Tommy Ton from Jak & Jil (right)

I wanted to touch that fuzzy cardi...And look! Such a simple camera! Her style has also been documented on The Sartorialist

Susie Bubble Fashion Weeks Street Style - dancing to the beat of her own music Pt 3 - my pics of her outside Chanel Haute Couture

I have been following Susie Bubble for the longest time, including when she was posting pictures on MyStyleDiary (before she was THE Susie Bubble).  Back in the day she also used to comment here, and even wrote to me a couple of times.  So I was particularly tickled to see her outside Chanel's Couture show during Paris Couture Week, especially since she was wearing the Dries Van Noten skirt she had blogged about a month or so earlier, and that I had actually seen in Dries' flagship store the day before (in all its beaded/embroidered glory - sadly, the 36 was the only size missing on the racks, which was slightly on sale too).  I was just about to muster the courage to go up and say hi, when I heard my name being called...by none other than Peut-être magazine photographer/creative-director/editor-in-chief Nathalie Malric, whom I was there to meet.  Susie, maybe next time?

Emanuelle Alt outside Palais de Tokyo - Paris Couture Week 2013

Here are the pictures of Emmanuelle Alt I promised in my previous post.  After seeing her outside Chanel's Haute Couture show (pics in aforementioned post) I saw her later again in the afternoon at Alexander Vauthier's Couture show during Paris Couture Week.  I was (pleasantly) surprised to see her relaxing in the foyer of the 'Palais de Tokyo', with a young kid climbing around them before the show, and then snapped her again after the show...

all pics by me

Shop Emmanuelle Alt's look:
Jacket: Saint Laurent (available here and here), Jeans: J Brand 811 in shadow (don't know that EA's are these, but I have these, and love them - available here), T-shirt: Helmut Lang here, Pumps: Balmain (available here) or Gianvito Rossi (available here).

Have a great weekend everyone!
