Rachel Roy - Beautiful draping...

This is one of my current favourite outfits, having used it three times in the last month or so, as it is so easy to throw on and so comfortable...

Dress: Rachel Roy Viola wrap dress (looks much better on the model, of course) - am grateful for the stretchy waistband
Shoes: Christian Dior Extreme Python sandals
Bag
: Chloe lambskin bracelet bag

Bracelet: Tom Binns Faux Real

What first made me fall in love with Rachel Roy's designs were her beautiful drapey pieces...Her debut Spring/Summer 2007 collection of hers is still my favourite, especially the draped yellow strapless dress (which was my first purchase of hers):

Sweets for my feet -Part 2: Sandals (high heels)

Following on from my previous post, 'Sweets for my feet - Part 1: Pumps", I was glad I got to continue my 'sweets' and 'shoes' theme...especially because I was giddy when I found out that French luxury pastries brand Ladurée has partnered with designers (Marni & Christian Louboutin) to make fabulous gift boxes for its macarons. Italian luxury brand Marni created a gold colored macroon box with polka dots and a golden flower for Ladurée. My sister has already been lucky enough to be gifted a box of Christian Louboutin macarons for her birthday...I hear the Marni box will be released early December, and as I have booked my tickets to go to Japan mid-December (Woo hoo! Am so excited, as I have never been to Japan), I am determined to make my way to Ladurée (as well as Pierre Hermé) to get me some of my very own in Tokyo...

Marni patent sandals

My bridesmaid shoes by Top End (they matched my sisters' blush silk satin wedding shoes perfectly), and Chloe gold bow sandals.

Dries Van Noten

From top: Christian Dior Extreme Python Sandals, Gucci by Tom Ford peep-toe clear slingback heels & Prada Ming colourful wedges (I think these were my first pair of 'designer shoes').

Stella McCartney sandals - I purchased the ivory silk satin & swarovski heels before I even got engaged, and saved them as wedding shoes, but as I changed my mind in the last minute regarding my dress, they did not suit my Akira wedding dress, so I only got to wear them to the 'rehearsal dinner'.

It is a shame that sandals do not photograph as well as pumps...

Wind in the Willow...

Wore this Saturday night to a cocktail bar for a friend's farewell with my Chloe lambskin bracelet bag (not pictured)

Willow EDG64 yellow silk draped dress (sorry the pic's no good, it was a bit dark when I took it - closer/better pic from a while ago here, or on the model - doing it better justice than I)
Dior Extreme Python Shoes (couldn't keep my eyes off of these whenever SJP appeared in them in the Sex and the City movie)

It's getting hot in here...

The weather has been in the high 30's and sometimes 40's (ie. around 100 Fahrenheit) since I returned from my South American holiday, which means I've been trying to chill by the pool or at the beach, or indoors whenever possible...

Wore this to my friends' 3-year old's birthday party (which was great fun!):

T-shirt: Sass & Bide 'A little peace' Jagger tee
Shorts: Stella McCartney
Belt: Alice McCall silk crystal bow belt
Bag: Burberry patent clutch
Shoes: Stella McCartney black pumps
(shown below)
Jewellery: Crystal bracelet from Bauhaus

Burberry patent clutch:

As a large-bag fan, I've always resisted clutches as I can barely fit anything in them, but I thought it was time for my first 'proper' clutch, and got it last December.

Please excuse the terrible hair day

Out for drinks at a local pub with friends, was in a 'Resort' mood:

Top
: Tigerlily white&red striped with lace straps halterneck worn under
Blouse: Vanessa Bruno cotton-voile top (better pic here)
Shorts: Stella McCartney
Belt: Dries Van Noten
Bag: Burberry Manor
Shoes: White buckle shoes with red heel (purchased 5 years ago in Brazil, still love these, and had to buy them twice, as they were stolen the first time, minutes after I bought it!)

Sunday drinks with friends (was happy chilling at home, but had my arm 'twisted' to come out to a nearby bar for way too much French bubbly...I had 5 minutes, so added some accessories to my comfy 'lounge at home' outfit)

Top
: Sportsgirl beaded silk camisole (used to be a dress, but I didn't like the asymmetrical hem and so 'altered' it)
Dress: Ilana Moses silk dress (it's actually a gorgeous deep purple colour)
Belt: Calibre (men's) belt
Shoes: Dior Extreme Pythons
Jewellery: Tom Binns Faux Real cuff & large stone ring from Buenos Aires
Bag: Chloe large brown leather bracelet bag

TGIF with Chloe & a Touch of Vintage

Wore this out for drinks & dinner with friends on Friday:

Dress: Mom's dress (now vintage) the softest cotton, it feels like silk and has amazing silver thread running through it.
Belt: Chain rope vintage belt (was mom's too)
Shoes: Dior Extreme Pythons
Bag: Chloe large lambskin Bracelet bag

This is my undoubtedly my favourite bag, which I've had for years (and that's starting to show). The leather is butter soft, and I love the large bracelet brass handle (which can be changed to a leather strap that I pretty much never use), the tiny gold/brass studs, and the fact that I can fit a 1.5L bottle of water, and everything else I ever need to carry (including a spare pair of sandals/thongs if I'm partying).

I truly miss the Phoebe Philo days at Chloe, and absolutely loved this collection, which I consider one of her iconic collections (Spring 2003). I don't think things have been the same since she left, but it'll be interesting to see what direction Hannah MacGibbon takes with the label. Her Spring 2009 collection appears to be stearing Chloe back to a 'girlier' direction, but it's early days yet.

Recent Dries Van Noten outfits

Dries Van Noten has been my favourite designer for as long as I can remember.  His clothes speak of a timeless beauty, and evokes emotion in every piece, at least to me.  I find his pieces to be effortless and beautiful, even in the simplest piece, be it the cut or the fabric, he shows such attention to detail, and favours gorgeous prints & fabrics (often ethnic), colours, and layerings.  Stepping into his store in Paris transports you into an era gone-by, yet current, reflecting his designs.  It is the most beautiful store I have ever set foot in, so gorgeous with clothes displayed in an old bookstore full of character.  Dries Van Noten, how I love thee!

Dress: Dries Van Noten beaded & sequined shirtdress
Jacket: Navy silk chiffon Claude Maus hoodie
Shoes: Marni patent wedges

(click to view close up of the beading & sequencing)

(click to enlarge - isn't the hippo stool cute?)
Top: Silk Dries Van Noten top (for better runway pic click here)
Shorts: Draped Garcons Comme Boy (don't think it's an actual brand, found this on ebay, and couldn't resist the draping on these shorts)
Shoes: Dior Extreme Pythons

Dress: Dries Van Noten floral dress
Shoes: Dior Extreme Pythons (was struggling to keep 'afloat' on the mulch)

Thought I'd include a better picture of the dress, as mine didn't do it justice

Drape me up, drape me down

Rachel Roy Layla dress
Sportsgirl silk chiffon embroidered shrug
Dior Extreme Pythons in Brown heels (will have to post better pictures of these shoes, they deserve a post on their own!)

PS. I warned you I'm not at all photogenic! Please excuse the horrible hair, it was in a messy bun which fell apart seconds before the picture was taken.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I simply adore draped pieces, and have done so for as long as I can remember. I love how the fabric drapes and flows with your body, exuding effortless glamour; and especially the fact that one needn't be tall nor slim to carry it off (I am neither), flattering any shape or size.

Sex and the City - and THE Dior Extremes

Like many other SATC fans out there, I waited with huge anticipation for the movie to come out this year.  The fashion was mind-blowing, but I only managed to 'absorb' 1% of it.

Every time the Christian Dior Extreme shoes (pictured above) appeared in the movie, my jaw dropped (literally), the brown Python pair in particular.  I have been obsessing about them, and the vintage one-of-a-kind reconstructed Givenchy jacket (pictured above left) ever since.  Obviously I will never get my hands on that amazing jacket, but I am SO excited that I managed to track down and acquire the Dior Pythons, these are seriously the sexiest pair of heels I've ever owned!
