Sweets for my feet -Part 2: Sandals (high heels)

Following on from my previous post, 'Sweets for my feet - Part 1: Pumps", I was glad I got to continue my 'sweets' and 'shoes' theme...especially because I was giddy when I found out that French luxury pastries brand Ladurée has partnered with designers (Marni & Christian Louboutin) to make fabulous gift boxes for its macarons. Italian luxury brand Marni created a gold colored macroon box with polka dots and a golden flower for Ladurée. My sister has already been lucky enough to be gifted a box of Christian Louboutin macarons for her birthday...I hear the Marni box will be released early December, and as I have booked my tickets to go to Japan mid-December (Woo hoo! Am so excited, as I have never been to Japan), I am determined to make my way to Ladurée (as well as Pierre Hermé) to get me some of my very own in Tokyo...

Marni patent sandals

My bridesmaid shoes by Top End (they matched my sisters' blush silk satin wedding shoes perfectly), and Chloe gold bow sandals.

Dries Van Noten

From top: Christian Dior Extreme Python Sandals, Gucci by Tom Ford peep-toe clear slingback heels & Prada Ming colourful wedges (I think these were my first pair of 'designer shoes').

Stella McCartney sandals - I purchased the ivory silk satin & swarovski heels before I even got engaged, and saved them as wedding shoes, but as I changed my mind in the last minute regarding my dress, they did not suit my Akira wedding dress, so I only got to wear them to the 'rehearsal dinner'.

It is a shame that sandals do not photograph as well as pumps...

Sweets for my feet - Part 1: Pumps

Plate of brigadeiros I made for a family get together:

Sweets for my feet
Sugar for my heart...
What can I eat?
You can eat my shoes.
Is it high in calories?
Only if it's got chocolate.
So I won't eat...
my shoes.

Bahahaha...these are the lyrics my sisters & I (it was probably just me, but I will spread the blame) made up to a silly song that was playing on the radio at the time, 'Sweets for my sweets'...We still laugh about it.

Apologies to all who have said they have missed my outfit posts. I am starting to feel better, and promise I will try to work on some as soon as possible (am hoping this weekend). Some lovely readers requested some shots of my shoes (a long time ago, apologies again for the delay). It is a somewhat daunting task, and so I thought I would start with my 'pumps'. For a few years I had a thing for them, so managed to gather a little multicoloured collection. I have also been enjoying some delicious desserts in the last week or so, thought I'd share some with you...

Ebony & Ivory...side by side on my piano keyboard...
My favourite pumps by Tom Ford for Gucci, love the gold mini studs!

Gelati!

I've got the blues...Christian Louboutin pumps in Electric Blue & Patent Baby Blue, Prada silk floral pumps in the centre (I wear my Louboutin's so much! )

Yum...chocolate fondue (did not actually have this, but it looked so pretty!)

Giuseppe Zanotti pumps & Burberry Prorsum Ashley patent Mary Jane pumps in the centre (birthday present from my gorgeous sisters)

Ricotta canoli...seriously delicious!

From top to bottom: Chanel ballerina pumps (it comes with a metallic lace which I removed as soon as I got them), Marc Jacobs pumps (the gold started unravelling soon after I got them), Patrick Cox peep-toe stiletto's with zip on the back, Stella McCartney Terracotta cork pumps (thank you present from my sister for helping her organize her wedding) and my first Stella McCartney shoes (which started my Stella McCartney shoe love affair), patent pump stiletto's with the finest heel, yet so comfortable, I could not believe it! It must be some feat of engineering, as I do not usually find high heels comfortable.

Chocolate and Frangelico mini-panacotta

In reverse order (above)

Almond, Coconut & Pistachio chocolate truffles...divine!

Not quite sure how I ended up with four pairs of the same Stella McCartney shoe...I remember seriously wanting the first two, but funnily I purchased the back two first, I wear them all so much (except for the fuschia)

Torta di Capri - beautifully light chocolate & roasted hazelnut torte with a rich Frangelico sauce, amazing...

Had to edit my post, because I had forgotten to include my Lanvin bi-color rasberry patent pumps with wicked metal heel!

Picture perfect wedding...

The lovely & talented Icon tagged me with these questions (and some extra, which I took the liberty to remove, as I recently answered them in a previous tag), I'd like to tag two glamorous & gorgeous Aussie bloggers: DiamondsinChampagne & PorcelaineBlonde (there are extra questions here)

The rules are:

1. Respond and rework: answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.
2. Tag other un-tagged people.

What are you wearing today? (I started answering this tag on Saturday)
Dries Van Noten Doreen sequinned dress, Marni Patent heels & Witchery red leather clutch I bought 10 or so years ago for $60 (at half price, it was my most expensive bag then...), actually it's not quite a clutch, there's a short strap I tucked into the bag, I felt the outfit needed a pop of contrasting colour.

Last night I wore this out to meet friends for drinks:

Stella McCartney silk blouse (with a touch of cotton), with detachable collar & monkey button & split sleeves (this was in my 'to sell' pile, as I've had it for years & have never worn it, due to the split sleeves, as I'm not usually a fan, but on a whim, I decided to use it)
Willow pinafore dress (yay for pockets!)
Christian Louboutin patent baby blue pumps

Why is today so special?
As my dad says, everyday is special. But today's especially so because my friends of over 10 years are getting married! The day, wedding & bride were absolutely beautiful, and just look at the most gorgeous parasol ever! (see below).

What would you like to learn to do?
Design/sew/create fashion.

What did you have for dinner?

What's the last thing you bought?
I finally tracked down & bought these Dries Van Noten grey patent wedges, which arrived yesterday from Belgium (woo hoo!):

What are you listening to right now?
Prince - Live in Concert.

What is on your bedside table?
Earplugs & Dries Van Noten collection lookbooks, and an incredibly cool Danish mid-century lampshade.

Say something about the person who tagged you:

Icon is so talented, and made a dress that was displayed at the national art gallery! Her photography & photographs in her blog are always so beautiful & inspiring!

Name the things you can not live without:
Mobile (cell) phone, my laptop/computer, internet (for skype, e-mail, blogs & internet shopping), Havaianas.

What would you like to get rid of?
Prejudice & hatred.

Which language do you want to learn?
French & Mandarin Chinese.

What countries have you visited?
United Kingdom, Brazil, Argentina, USA, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Lichstenstein, Monaco, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Canada, Denmark.

What are some of the things you like about where you live?
I am close to beautiful rolling hills & vineyards, as well as the beach.

What's your greatest accomplishment?

My First Class Honours (research) degree, it was one of the toughest years ever...

What is your favorite quality about yourself?
Ooh, what a hard question! I'd like to think it's what my in-laws call 'my good heart'.

What is your favorite quote/saying?
Not highly intellectual or anything, and I can't remember where I got this from (nor the actual words), but I read this in the late 80's, and it saw me through teenage dramas, through to today..."Today that seems so sad & bitter, will be tomorrow's yesterday' (or words to that effect).

Conveniently forgot to add a question to the tag as per the rules:
Which song & movie are your 'go-to' for when you're feeling 'down'?
Song: Shackles (Mary Mary)
Movie: Legally Blonde

Koi Suwannagate & Phillip Lim - Ring a ring o'roses

Blue roses - 3.1 Phillip Lim & Koi Suwannagate

3.1 Phillip Lim Rosette Tank dress (colour washed out in the sunny trellis photo)
Marni shoes

Taupe roses - 3.1 Phillip Lim & Koi Suwannagate

3.1 Phillip Lim linen strapless rosette dress (love the pockets! 'Pockets full o' posies')
Christian Louboutin Electric Blue Simples 85mm
PS. Whenever I wear this dress, people feel the need to come & 'squoosh' the 3-D flowers!

Black Roses - Koi Suwannagate

Koi Suwannagate black cashmere rosette top (roses are on the back, boatneck in front, worn back to front)
Stella McCartney for H&M silk tulip skirt
Stella McCartney fuschia satin pumps
Beaded cuff (bought it over 10 years ago!)

The sleeves are in fact split, which I'm not a fan of, so I've knotted them up to make my own 'rose & thorns'. I see Natalie wore her sweater back to front too (although they say no two pieces are the same)!

Koi Suwannagate

It’s all in the detail! I liked the old times when things took time to be made. I appreciate the value of vintage clothing and draw much inspiration from antique pieces and organic shapes. I love femininity paired with imperfection."

Born in Bangkok and living in LA, Koi Suwannagate launched her line in 2001. A few years later I discovered her imaginately beautiful hand-sculptured creations, using vintage & organic fabrics, and nature-inspired designs. This black cashmere rosette top was my first Koi Suwannagate piece, and it is a real shame that I couldn't photograph it well (especially seeing it's black), it only made me fall deeper in love with her artistry. A few years later Koi collaborated with Phillip Lim for his Spring/Summer 2007 collection, which was truly a match made in fashion heaven. I fell in love with the 3-D sculptural roses, , and it's my favourite collection by Thailand-born (to Chinese parents) Phillip Lim (whom I've been a fan of since his 'Development' days). In more recent collections Koi has shown that she is not just a 'knit-girl' and has also used beautiful silks & jerseys.
