Peut-être Magazine Issue 3 (aka 'The Haute Couture Issue')- Out Now!

Issue 3 of Peut-être (I dub it the 'Haute Couture issue') is out now!

As Peut-être's Fashion and Lifestyle writer and Editor, I am so excited to share about this beautiful 'magazine', which is really more a photography or coffee book (filled with exclusive photographs by the incredibly talented and lovely photographer, creative-director and editor-in-chief Nathalie Malric).

This third quarterly issue takes you ‘behind the scenes’ of Haute Couture shows by Chanel (including a look behind the curtains of its Haute Couture atelier), Didit Hediprasetyo, Basil Soda and exciting ‘new’ designers Yiqing Yin and Iris Van Herpen. It also features interviews with cake ‘Haute Couture’ designer Rachel Mount, French artist Cendrine Rovini, Argentinian model Lucho Jacob, and much more.

Available to view online, you can also purchase your stunning hard copy here and in several prestigious stores in Paris (such as Colette and Palais de Tokyo), run, don't walk to get your copy:

The Emperor's New Clothes - The Golden Orb Spider Silk Cape

I have a confession to make: I am quite the insectophobe and arachnophobe. However, I was absolutely fascinated when I read about this incredible cape made with silk of more than 1.2 million female Golden Orb-weaver spiders collected in the highlands of Madagascar's island.

Using long poles, a team of 80 people worked to collect the spiders from their webs each morning, whereby the threads they produced were then extracted by hand, once this 20 minute process was complete, they were returned to the wild. Approximately 1.5 kg of the resulting silk was used to produce the work, and the cape took 8 years to develop.

The bright yellow hue of the garment is natural, and has not been modified or dealt with, as the arachnids' threads are naturally of this golden intensity. The cape is covered with 6000 hours worth of embroidery depicting spiders, plants and flowers, and is virtually weightless, making it a real-life cape worthy of 'the emperor' from Hans Christiansen's "The Emperor's New Clothes" fable:

For those living or visiting London, the cape is being exhibited at the V&A museum until June this year.

Taylor Tomasi Hill for Lane Crawford

Taylor took inspiration from her personal wardrobe to design a capsule collection consisting of seven pieces for Hong Kong store ' Lane Crawford', in collaboration with its Fashion Director Sarah Rutson. Known for making impossible fashion combinations work brilliantly, Taylor artfully pieces together her corseted navy dresses with black tulle, floral separates, subtle hints of metallic sequins and more. Who better to model these looks than Taylor herself?

I am off to Sydney tomorrow, better finish packing!!!

Pre-Fall 2012: Burberry Prorsum & Jason Wu

Happy New Year everyone!!!

Hope you all had a marvellous NYE, and wish you all a very Happy 2012! Oh my, December sure was crazy here in the Brigadeiro household, with my sister/1 year old nephew (his birthday and birthday party were on Boxing Day)/parents/bro-in-law all visiting (plus more friends and family, as is usually the case at this time of year). So apologies for the lack of posts!

I have had the post below in my 'drafts' box for about a month! Yikes! I know it's 'old news', but I thought I'd post it anyway, for my own records if nothing else:

Jason Wu

Loved the outerwear and knits in this collection:

Burberry Prorsum

Of course, it goes without saying, that the outerwear was my favourite, especially that camel coat (and the penultimate navy coat pictured - gorgeous)! There was plenty of tweed, and jackets harder, extended shoulders and nipped waists, giving them a gorgeous silhouette:

I am off to a much needed haircut shortly, and am super excited that I have booked my tickets to fly over to Sydney next week to celebrate my sister's birthday (party time!). WOO HOO!
