Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

How I wish I had access to an H&M store! Or that their online store shipped internationally to Oz!  The collaborative collection with Maison Martin Margiela looks incredible, and I hear the quality is quite good.  My current wishlist includes:
  • Oversized cashmere turtleneck (especially the navy)
  • Beige pumps with perspex heel
  • Possibly the same in the black ankle boots
  • Narrow shouldered blazer
Also considering:
  • The beige leather tote
  • The 'watch' band bracelet and belt
  • The circle shirt
Have any of you managed to nab any pieces? What are your thoughts on the collection?

  1. This was the only designer collab I've ever lined up for, and I have to say, I think it was totally worth it. Though many of those pieces actually looked quite ridiculous on me (oversized is an understatement for those turtleneck sweaters and the pea coat), I immensely enjoyed looking through all of it and was totally happy with the quality and the feel of it all. I came home with only the circle shirt, but I'm totally in love with it!

  2. If you like me to order something and ship it to you - let me know, darling xx I've went for.... toooooo much! The navy cashmere turtleneck, the "sequin" dress, the leather leggings, the nude pumps and black booties with perspex wedge, the handcuff necklace and bracelet, the rhinestone necklace, the fitted blazer.... aaaaaaahhhhhhh!!
Happy weekend to you and your family!!

  3. Plenty of MMM left where I live, which I expected. Nobody was paying much serious attention to it either. One girl started trying stuff on after she saw me, and asked my opinions on stuff. LOL. I urged her to get the narrow shoulder jacket. Sold out on candy clutches though—didn’t want one, but I was curious to see how they looked in person.

Skip the beige leather tote, quality didn’t look good. The glove bags are much better. The watch belt looked cool, but seemed overpriced compared to other things. I didn’t try on the cashmere t-neck (don’t like cashmere) or the circle shirt, but I’ll give it go when I go back. The black ankle boots looked awesome. The watch belt looked cool, but at the same price as the blazer, it seemed overpriced. The disco scarf is fun, but could tell it wouldn't hold up well.

I LOVE the narrow shoulder blazer. Beautiful piece. It runs really small though. I sized up from the 2 to the 4, and I wear a 00 in Theory.

I also bought the silk kimono top and matching apron skirt. Beautiful, but unfortunately I’m returning. The skirt gaping isn’t practical for me, and I’d want to wear both pieces as a set. (I already have a similar kimono top to get the top solo). I’d reconsider if it goes on sale.

Also bought the sequins print dress. But on the fence leaning on returning… Beautiful, but it doesn’t work on me enough to keep it for full price. Another thing I’d rather buy on sale.

    1. Hi I am looking to buy the narrow shoulder blazer but confused on the sizes on ebay. I found one that says it is a EU38, what size is that? I am about 5'8'' and 126lbs with a 34 bust. Will the 38 fit? Is that like a US8? Thanks so much for your help!

    2. Hi there, I don't own this blazer myself, but have heard/read that it runs quite small, I was thinking of the 36 for myself, and I'm a US 2-4. Since your bust is 34" I would think a 38 would be a good size for you, but perhaps someone who owns this blazer may be able to help you better. Perhaps write to Pret a Porter P who posted the comment above? Good luck! ;)

  4. How lovely to read all your replies!

Modediktat - aw, thank you for offering, you are so sweet!

Pret a Porter P - I thought of you when I first saw the kimono top and skirt! Shame it didn't suit 100%, hope you find it when it goes on sale ;) Wish I could see a pic of you in the narrow shouldered jacket!

My gorgeous little sister ordered some pieces online for me (woo hoo!), but it will be some time before they arrive. She ordered:

*Nude pumps with plexi wedge heel (am worried they aren't comfortable, after reading a thread on The Fashion Spot's forum)
*The black ankle boots with plexi wedge (as above)
    *Watch belt
*Beige leather tote (H - Pret a Porter P - oh dear re: their quality)!
*Circle shirt (hope this looks good on - glad to hear you like yours Nomadic D!)

    Still on my wishlist:
*Narrow shouldered jacket (top of my list)
    *Oversized cashmere turtleneck sweaters

    1. Hey Clarice,

Where did your sister order the MMM from? Oh for a H&M in Oz...

    2. Hey there!

My sister lives in London, and sent me some pics of some of the items today, waiting for the others to arrive.

She also managed to find an oversized sweater in ivory for me, in store. Woo hoo!

  5. I'm still going back and forth on the sequins dress. I love it, but I would be annoyed if I saw it marked down. So I may take it with me, and if there's a ton left of the dress, I'll return it.

I wore the blazer yesterday with the collar upturend. I LOVE it. I only had time for a quick mirror picture. Also I had an epiphany that it is going to be perfect for travel.

  6. The blue coat I'm head over heels for! I need that in my life!

    xx Mandi

    1. Ah, but you have the IM David! But I agree, this coat does look stunning, although I read that it only comes in one size, and is INCREDIBLY oversized (even to people who were big fans of oversized pieces).
