In less than a year, I gain a new sister-in-law, but she has yet to start looking at/for wedding dresses, I offered to scout some on her behalf...
Her likes: one-shouldered simple gowns, vintage dresses
Her dislikes: strapless gowns & the full-skirt meringue/very 'bridal' look.
As a fan of Marchesa, I think these would be the ones she would most like (especially the 2nd dress, that's the one I'm most excited about for her, and can't wait for her to see):

Collette Dinnigan
I realized this is the dress my friend wore to her non-wedding wedding celebration (they insist it was really her now-husband's milestone birthday, but there was a wedding cake...)

The second Marchesa dress is gorgeous, I almost wish I could get married very soon just to wear it!
ReplyDeleteAverything is perfect in this dress, I love the material, the shape, the length, the belt... Your sister in law would look like a lovely roman vestal!!!!

All of these dresses are so perfect and classy. If she picked any of them them she'd look amazing I bet.
ReplyDeleteI adore Elie Saab to the max!!!
Absolutely gorgeous choices! Love all the asymmetric gowns, particularly at Elie Saab!

I'm not a traditional wedding dress gal either, so it is refreshing to see so many stylish options. My faves are the second and last Marchesa gowns. They're so graceful and light. The belt on that first Marchesa dress makes me swoon.
ReplyDeleteThe white in ellie saab collection is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the secon Marchesa's gown! That was simply stunning and I would definitely have to bookmark it so I can wear something like that on my wedding someday! The other choices are lovely too particularly lavin! So fun! xxoxooxox
ReplyDeleteThe 3rd Marchesca has all the Grecian feel I envision in my dream wedding dress...just a bit too much glitz to it for me.
ReplyDeleteIf I had another wedding the one shoulder Marchesa would have to be mine. It's beyond stunning!
ReplyDeleteElie Saab CTR Fall 2010 for me the best !!!! Amazing collection, muy femenina y muy moderna, una novia diferente sin duda ... estaba malita siento haberte contestado tarde cielo, un beso
ReplyDeletethe second and third marchesa dresses are fantastic. love them to bits. haha I am similar with the looking. I look at wedding dresses all the time, even though I'm not engaged, haha. I love them... it is such a fairytale thing... I agree with her, I hate strapless dresses as well! spending the night yanking up your dress is not the most glamorous thing... nor is excessive cleavage. theres a time and a place - your wedding isn't it! haha.
ReplyDeletebeautiful picks, you will have to keep us updated on her choice :)
xx
The Lanvin dresses are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThese Marchesa gowns are all so beautiful; would name #2 my fav. Also Collette Dinnigan has some fairytale gowns in her collection.
ReplyDeleteLanvin is, as you already stated "playful", so fun to see but to wear for your wedding... maybe more a "no" ;)
Happy relaxing sunday to you!
well done! very nice guide, superb taste! I might add for the bold some Preen and Herve Leger mini whites! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't normally like wedding dresses at all but I love the second one, so pretty.
ReplyDeletei cannot lie; i found myself lusting over all of these dresses! i don't know which one to choose. they're all unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteI really wish I could get married again, so I could "do over" my dated poufy cupcake dress from nearly 5 years ago. :) I love looking at dresses. So thanks for posting these!
ReplyDeletethe collette ones are absolutely delicious!
ReplyDeleteI love so much this dresses. I am sure that all girls would dream about wedding in such one!! To my part, I would be unable to make a choice anong them. I maybe have a little preference for the first one, but in an other hand some of the others are a little bit more originals... Fortunately, I do not have to make such a choice at the moment, but I would nearly be ready to marry just to wear a dress like these ones!! ReplyDeleteYour choices are stunning!
ReplyDeleteMy fave is the "playful" lady with the short dress/hat and long veil!!!
Oooh gorgeous!!! I really like the idea of an alterna-wedding dress...depending on the mood of the wedding it could be any white dress..or non-white?

ReplyDeletei love marchesa, all the gowns look so feminine and elegant !
ReplyDeletei love elie saab and colette dinnagan, too.
if i got married, i would choose an elie saab gown, i love embroideries so much !!!
The Elie Saabe lineup is sooo gorgeous. In particular, I love the 6th dress - it reminds of the Prohibition era of the 1920s in America. You have great taste and she's lucky to have you scouting out options for her!
ReplyDeleteOMG to all of this - especialy Marcheesa. I too will NOT wear strapless at my wedding - it is so overdone!
ReplyDeleteSo many gorgeous dresses - I don't know where to start! The 6th Elie Saab dress is probably my favourite, and those Lanvin pics are just lovely (especially the first one)
ReplyDeleteFor me it is: Elie Saab #5 or Lanvin #1, or ALL THE Marchesa Gowns
ReplyDeletehehehehe
I'm way too young to be thinking about marriage....but with these dresses I might just have to mature a little faster! Btw your post on your dress is amazing. That fabric is todie for!

The selection of wedding dresses is daunting isn't it? My sister is getting married in November. She went with a very practical J. Crew dress.
ReplyDeleteHi Brigadeiro,
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing? I'm looking for a wedding dress for myself. I'm thinking vintage. Although those Elie Saab gowns are beautiful but I don't think I can afford one :)
Hope you have a beautiful day and good luck helping your future sister in law finding a wedding gown :)
xoxo

I adore the third Marchesa dress its so beautiful and grecian x
ReplyDeleteDefinitly love the last one as well as a few elie saab ones.. oh so hard to choose! Recently I've been becoming addicted to looking at wedding dresses despite my young age, they're just so pretty! I love watching say yes to the dress (tv show about consultants and clients at a wedding dress store).
