Haute Couture Spring 2012 - Chanel and Christian Dior

Christian Dior

Having been brought up on a healthy diet of 1950's and 1960's movies, I have always loved the glamorous 'New Look' silhouette. There was barely a 'look' I did not like at Bill Gayten's Haute Couture collection for Dior, and the pictures below do not do it justice, as there is further beauty in the incredible details:

For years I said my favourite colour was blue. Now I'm not so sure, as I love so many! But I do love blue...Karl Lagerfeld offered in his Haute Couture collection 150 different shades of blue, in beautifully elegant silhouettes, some of which were reminiscent of 'homie boys', as the designer describes it: the designer said, "like boys whose jeans are slipping off. But somehow, elegantly so?

  1. the dior collection was beautiful - but i've missed the spirit there. like a beautiful body without a mind.... liked the chanel collection more - although front pockets on dresses are overestimated IMO

  2. The Dior collection is beautiful but there's no doubt Galliano was doing a much better and special job!

  4. Wow, those simple shifts at Chanel are some of the first things from Chanel that I've seen in at least a couple of seasons that really spoke to me. Glorious!
