Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010

Surprisingly, quite a few of my favourite designers were not my favourites for Spring/Summer 2010 at Milan Fashion Week. Many still were, and I discovered a new favourite:

Aquilano.Rimondo - headed by designers Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi. Their first collection under their independantly-financed label, Aquilano.Rimondo debuted in Milan's Spring/Summer 2009 Fashion Week in September 2008.

For SS'10, the designers turned out deluxe Italian fabrics, stunning brocades, a pair of tiny miniskirts were inspired by Monet and Gaudí. Sharply tailored safari jackets, belted dresses, and vests mingled with the shiny cocktail-hour fare. I absolutely loved the ivory gauzey blouse that was worn under the strapless dress, and these other breathtaking pieces below. I look forward to seeing more from this brilliant pair, who share an obsession with Elsa Schiaparelli:

  3. I too found the extensive range of women's dresses at Milan fashion week contrastiong from last year. Scot's designer Chris Kane has made his mark, and I love his work on women's dresses

  4. Really enjoying the Aquilano.Rimondi pieces. I am not so sure about the Ferragamo. Apparently they are switching designers and I'm hoping they will stimulate their creativity. I was shocked when I walked into their store and saw their clothing/shoe section. Ugh. Dowdy Central.

  15. Love the classicism and rich, luxe fabrics & colors at Aquilano Rimondi. That deep purple dress is to die for. But my fave so far is probably Gianfranco Ferre.

The bold prints at Pucci and the rose patterns at Dolce & Gabbana I'm also drawn to - am trying to push the boundaries with color and patterns. Still working through it all though-sensory overload!!

    Great post
