Surprisingly, quite a few of my favourite designers were not my favourites for Spring/Summer 2010 at Milan Fashion Week. Many still were, and I discovered a new favourite:
Aquilano.Rimondo - headed by designers Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi. Their first collection under their independantly-financed label, Aquilano.Rimondo debuted in Milan's Spring/Summer 2009 Fashion Week in September 2008.
For SS'10, the designers turned out deluxe Italian fabrics, stunning brocades, a pair of tiny miniskirts were inspired by Monet and Gaudí. Sharply tailored safari jackets, belted dresses, and vests mingled with the shiny cocktail-hour fare. I absolutely loved the ivory gauzey blouse that was worn under the strapless dress, and these other breathtaking pieces below. I look forward to seeing more from this brilliant pair, who share an obsession with Elsa Schiaparelli:

I too found the extensive range of women's dresses at Milan fashion week contrastiong from last year. Scot's designer Chris Kane has made his mark, and I love his work on women's dresses
ReplyDeleteReally enjoying the Aquilano.Rimondi pieces. I am not so sure about the Ferragamo. Apparently they are switching designers and I'm hoping they will stimulate their creativity. I was shocked when I walked into their store and saw their clothing/shoe section. Ugh. Dowdy Central.
ReplyDeleteLove the Ferragamo pieces!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous post, darling!
ReplyDeleteLove the bags at BV so much!
