Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Weeks must be one of the most colourful weeks to date, and the trend first seen in New York is continuing in London:
Sass and Bide
With rich and electric shades of coral, magenta, and fuschia in fluttery solid silks and some ikats and tie-dyes, this has to be one of my favourite collections from this duo to date. Sometimes the piece of cloth would be draped and belted over a pair of striped "wrap pants" - as Middleton has been styling herself for a while; at other times, the wrap was worked into a garment and just looked like a separate piece. Echoing the graphic black-and-white effect was a silk feather print, which had a terrific textural look with none of the weight. There were enamel feather necklaces and motifs borrowed from African mud cloth, plaited silk and basket-woven belts.
The collection was named 'Papa Sucre (i.e. sugar daddy), most likely in lieu of the $43 million investment from Australian department store chain Myer; which seems to have had a decidedly positive effect on S&B's collection:
Jaeger London
Oversized collars and rich colours
Betty Jackson
I loved the beautiful red used at Betty Jackson's collection, which also showed combinations of fabric weight and texture:
Acne
Rich delicious colours were shown at ACNE, and my favourite pieces were the outerwear in beautiful colours and textures:
