Pre-Fall 2012: Glamour at Chanel, Zac Posen & Oscar de la Renta

I am sorry it has been so long between posts, I have been battling an almighty virus/flu for the last 2 weeks (as has Lil Brigs', which only seems to drain my already drained body further). I can't believe that in the meantime, the Pre-Fall collections are upon us already! Although I agree with Dries Van Noten, that fashion needn't be a 'revolving door' with 4 collections a year, I found that there are already some gorgeous looks for this 'season':

Taking inspiration from India (despite never having visited the country), Karl's Pre-Fall collection for Chanel sported some gorgeous draped sari-inspired skirts and heavy embellishments:

Zac Posen

As a big fan of Zac Posen for years, I lost slight interest in his designs of late, but his latest collection seemed to go back to his earlier days somewhat. My favourite pieces were the simple white wool crepe sheath with anatomical seaming designed to diminish your waist, and those that featured his obsession with chinoiserie and the idea of creating European couture shapes out of Eastern fabrics:

Oscar de la Renta

Tons of glamour with a dash of casual elegance thrown here and there:

  1. In my mind I know the clothes are impossibly beautiful (not to mention expensive), but the Chanel runways never do anything for me. I like the overall styling at Zac Posen, reminscient of that 1950's Dorian Leigh or Dovima look. Though I think it's ridiculous that the designers are presenting 4 seasons with runways now.

  2. I like the head ornaments at Chanel - finally gives me inspiration to start wearing an antique Indonesian wedding tiara I've had for years. I find the rest of the collection boring as bats*&t though! There's been some interesting critiques on the runways of late being all about pretty dresses and nothing subversive/provocative, and I'm inclined to agree.
    Hope you feel better soon!

  3. the colours are pretty much standard chanel, theres nothing out of the box.

  5. Beautiful! They all look awesome! We like them.

Much love from the SABO SKIRT girls!

  6. Both collections are gorgeous! I'm in love with the dramatic flow of that last Oscar de la Renta dress.
