Shopbop 'Shop 'n Save' 'discount code'

Unfortunately my Shopbop order already arrived, so I won't actively look for items to buy, but just in case any of you were going to purchase something there anyway, you can save up to $300 by using use the code 'Springevent' at checkout (until Thursday, 28th of Feb).  The discount works out to more than 10% off, so not too shabby...

Ok, so I know I just wrote that I won't actively look at things to buy just to use the code, but I just briefly thought of these 3.1 Phillip Lim bags I have on my wishlist:

*sigh*

Oscar de la Renta for The Outnet - on Olivia Palermo (that's a lot of O's!)

Oscar de la Renta created a 24-piece exclusive collection for The Outnet, and Olivia Palermo is just the perfect 'model' for the collection, she looks so cute in the video on The Outnet's website (looks better in the video than in the pics below)! A lot of the pieces have already sold out (the ones I liked anyway, not that I could afford most of them anyway *whew* ), with the tweed pieces amongst my favourites.

What do you think of the collection?

Obsession fuelled further via New York Fashion Week Street Style: 3.1 Phillip Lim Embroidered Jacket

First shown last September at the Spring 2013 Fashion Week in New York, the 3.1 Phillip Lim's embroidered bomber jacket made its way to the 'street' during the New York Fashion Week in a stunning yellow version worn by Nathasha Goldenberg. As you may all know, I am crazy for oriental embroidery...I am also a huge fan of bomber jackets, especially if there's a twist like on this gorgeous specimen: beautiful fabric and embroideries...Now, if only I could do something about the $1,250 price tag! That and finding one in the first place (I popped my name on the 'pre-order list 'just for fun', but haven't seen the yellow version anywhere). Be still my beating heart:

Recent Buys: (mostly) Monochrome with blacks, stripes and more stripes...

I just noticed how (mostly) monochromatic my recent purchases were. I fell head over heels over the Erdem Casey blouse and the Dries Van Noten necklace when I first laid my eyes on their runway pics over a year ago. I plan to wear the necklace as shown on the runway as well as wrapped around my neck a few times, similarly to this.

The 3.1 Phillip Lim silver pointed leather collar is not actually a purchase, but a present from my gorgeous sister J (ain't I a lucky duck?), but I plan on wearing it with the Dries Van Noten black cotton sweater I just bought (the customer service at LN-CC was brilliant, btw, and it came in a gorgeous black box, even though it was a sale item, bonus!). I like how simple that top is, but cut beautifully, and I can see how easy it will be to use.

The SABA striped top is another addition to my collection of 'mariniere' tops, I don't think one can ever have too many (am slightly obsessed with 'nautical stripes'). I had my eyes on it for a while, and the recent 25% off offered just cinched the deal (such a bargain!), so I bought it today.

I posted the David Szeto Tess top in a previous post, and have obsessed over it since. David Szeto's designs are just brilliant: the asymmetrical zip, the drape, the side shoulder bow, and slightly off stripes, cut to make it more flattering to any body shape, so much to love!

The Willow black cashmere top is to replace a Vince sweater that I found completely moth eaten (boo), and was on sale (score!), and the Rag & Bone Dre jeans seem to have the perfect amount of whiskering, the right wash and cut (which I bought at 30% off at Shopbop)... Oh, and the sneakers! I have been living in them since I got them, so comfy!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Perspexing Weekend Pt 2.

Following on from my previous post about my Maison Martin Margiela for H&M perspex wedges, the black ankle bootie version has already been used a couple of times. Most recently, last Friday when I went out for dinners with 'the girls'.   I liked its clean design teamed with the girlishness of the rosettes on my 3.1 Phillip Lim t-shirt dress. Remember this post of mine on Phillip Lim and Koi Suwannagate's collaborative rosette pieces a few years ago? Well, since then, I obsessively patiently searched for the t-shirt dresses, and managed to nab them in both white and black. I'm so happy I persisted with my search! The casual silhouette of the t-shirt in soft cotton jersey teams so well with the 3D rosettes, making the dresses so easy to wear...and they have side pockets! Win! I had to add a pop of colour to my outfit with 'snake' (my nickname for it) Chloe Python Paraty bag:

You can add a pop of colour with a Python Chloe Paraty here, or go for black here, or if you can't have python shipped over to your country and/or prefer it in leather, you can find it in several stores, such as Nordstrom, Forward by Elyse Walker, in a gorgeous periwinkle at Ssense, Barneys, and Net-a-Porter (where mine was from).

Miroshka Pt 4: Miroslava Duma Street Style at New York Fall/Winter 2013 Fashion Week

Have you all read Suzy Menkes' article titled 'Circus of Fashion'? It certainly is an interesting read about the hoopla that surrounds fashion, street style, and bloggers. She laments that the focus of Fashion Weeks has shifted from the actual presentations to the people who stand and "peacock" outside them, waiting to be captured in outfits seemingly engineered to make photographers pay attention. She writes that fashion weeks have become a "celebrity circus of people who are famous for being famous." That street style blogs that used to capture real, stylish people on the street have now been overshadowed by people trying to dress solely so they could featured on those street style blogs, resulting in over-accessorized people taking pictures of each other outside of every show.

Although I agree with some points brought up by Suzy Menkes, I also agree with several made in Leandra Medine's (aka The Man Repeller) response to the article, as well as Susie Lau's (aka Susie Bubble) 'rebuttal'. Admittedly, I still enjoy looking up to see what my favourite fashionistas have worn during Fashion Weeks, and still think that they are dressing to express their personality and style, rather than trying to catch the eye of the cameras. The fashion editors in particular, and several bloggers (Susie Lau comes to mind) have been dressing the way they have long before they had their blogs. At New York Fashion Week, Miroslava Duma's style was beautifully polished yet fresh with a touch of fun. How cute is that Eugenia Kim striped hat with the Burberry Prorsum coat below? Although I think the all-white and khaki (parka) outfits are my favourites on this page:

What are your thoughts on Suzy Menkes' article?

Perspexing weekend Pt 1.

I still have not unpacked my shoes. Yes, it's been two months since I've moved in, and they are still packed away in my boxes.  That is, with the exception of a handful of shoes I use on a regular basis, which I packed in the suitcase for immediate use. These are: my trusty Havaianas slim sandals, my Dries Van Noten flat sandals, and both my red and black Chloe Susanna boots.  I recently added a pair of Nike Roshe Run sneakers to the mix (so happy with this purchase!), as I can now walk Lil J #1 to child care with Lil J #2 checking out his neighborhood from my Ergo carrier.

Just after I moved into my new house, a box arrived from London from my lovely sister J, filled with the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M goodies I asked her to buy for me (and a gorgeous Erdem silk scarf thrown in for good measure).  Up until two weeks ago my MMM for H&M Perspex wedges sat patiently in their box as I traipsed around exclusively in flats (well, if the Chloe boots count as flat - they are just as comfy).

I am so happy with how versatile the two pairs of MMM for H&M shoes are (had some misgivings about purchasing them full-priced), they go with a myriad of outfits and colours, and both pairs went for a spin this weekend.    The nude wedges went perfectly with the Willow Sunset Weave Tweed dress I bought a while ago, and I brought them along to my beautiful friend Kate's wedding (I wore my trusty Dries Van Noten sandals on the 1hr drive):

Sadly, I had to leave the wedding halfway when Mr Brigs decided to 'spin' Lil J #1 around between entrée and main course, resulting in a 'pulled (dislocated)' elbow (Lil J #1's), and a trip to the emergency department...She was having an absolute ball until that point!

Congratulations again, Kate & Simon!

Hello? Anybody home?

Lil' J is wearing a gorgeous dress Nathalie (founder of Peut-être) sent her from Paris, whilst tucking into a birthday cupcake...

I know most of you have given up checking this blog to see if 'anyone's home', and I apologize.  Can you believe that I did not have internet for TWO months?!?  When Mr Brigs told me it'd take 2 weeks for us to get connected to the internet when we moved house, I nearly flipped! How could I live without internet for that long? Turns out two weeks became two months, and I lived...well, barely!

The last few months have been a blur of trying to declutter and pack, then partly unpack, find places to put the stuff we unpacked, buy and assemble (thank you, Ikea) furniture in order to put some of these unpacked things, and yet...there is still an never ending number of boxes that are currently parked in my front room.  Am now sick as a dog, with two (also) sick kids, and have lost my voice.

Anyway, I digress...I thought I'd pop by and say hello, Happy 2013, and that I'll post asap.  I can't believe I missed the Couture shows, and already most of this month's NY and London Fashion Week!  I have also been busy writing my articles for Issue 6 of Peut-être magazine, which were a blast to research up on and write about, and also edit (it should be out soon, watch this space).

Hope you all had a fantastic Xmas, New Year and Happy Chinese New Year too!

xx
