São Paulo Fashion Week Verão/Summer 2011 Pt 1: Maria Bonita, Glória Coelho & Fernanda Yamamoto

São Paulo Fashion Week is widely regarded as the "fifth" fashion week, after New York, Paris, Milan and London, with so many Brazilian designers already receiving international recognition: Francisco Costa at Calvin Klein, Inacio Ribeiro at Clements Ribeiro, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Carlos Miele, Francesco Frisoni here Down Under, Oskar Metsavaht at Okslen), it was great to see so much talent and beautiful collections at SPF and RFW (Rio Fashion Week):

Maria Bonita

I loved the fresh colour palette of this collection, and the crinkly texture...beautiful easy-to-wear pieces that I would love to have in my wardrobe:

Glória Coelho

I have long admired Glória's work, since first seeing her amazing designs at Morumbi Shopping (São Paulo), and my sister was lucky enough to purchase a gorgeous woven top of hers. Always displaying incredible texture in her pieces, I also loved the shoes for this collection, so 'Oscar Niemeyer'...

Fernanda Yamamoto

A relatively new designer (she opened her first store last year), I absolutely loved this collection, with its washed colours, and light-as-air feel to the draped garments that were beautifully constructed with a big dose of fun and texture:

  1. Adorei o conjunto calça-top preto e branco da segunda colecção e da textura feérica e esvoaçante da 3ª colecção :) Tudo fantastico

  2. I have always wanted to go the the Sao Paulo fashion week. Living in Europe there is all this pressure to be invited to shows and all these fashion "clicks" I can only imagine that Brazilians are more laid back and warmer towards guests than here in London where it's all about you and 100 people of your entourage ;-)

Beautiful clothes by the way. It's nice to see more than just bikinis.
