Recent Buys: via London & Melbourne: Burberry Prorsum, Dries Van Noten & Empire Rose

Burberry Prorsum Military Coat

Last week I spotted this coat in the Elle UK December issue (p.112) (I'm always a month or so behind as I refuse to pay air freight prices), and fell in love. Called my sister (who lives in London), and she tracked it down for me last Friday, and it's now mine! I'm so excited! I have such a love for coats that I'm even eyeing them in summer...crazy seeing it was 110 F/43 C today !!!

It's a Prussian blue military style cocoon shaped quilted trench coat which is double breasted, with buttoned epaulettes, a high collar and two rows of buttons which end at the waist with inverted pleats below.

Dries Van Noten Strappy Sandals

During my visit to Melbourne this weekend for the Australian Open (saw Nadal play, he is incredible), I did manage to squeeze some shopping, and returned to Belinda and purchased a simplified version of the Dries Van Noten multicoloured sandals I missed out on last week (I am still upset over it, see below). Although in no way as stunning as the pair I originally 'purchased', these are a worthy consolation prize (I will still keep an eye out for the blue multicoloured pair), and I love the rich colour of the cognac leather straps (and the fact that they're incredibly comfortable).

Empire Rose Militaire Vest Helmut in Chrome

Next to the Belinda store, was Empire Rose, a Western Australian label I have followed/owned/loved since the 90's. This vest was too gorgeous to resist, with its narrowly-cut shoulders and cute pockets, love it!

  1. Holy Moly Miss Southern Hemisphere! 110 degrees Fahrenheit?? But better yet, that Burberry coat is incredible! I wonder if you'll rock it with your Tom Binns Faux Real cuff, ala the way Agyness rocks it with a studded bracelet?

  2. Haha! Sure will, but I love the fierceness of Agyness' bracelet! (in fact, the entire jewellery range for Prorsum's collection was wicked), may also try to 'toughen' the coat once in a while ;)

And isn't 110 degrees kerazy?!? It feels like an oven out there, and it'll be like that all week, yikes!

  5. Ahhh you are so lucky. I fell in love with that jacket on the runway and my love for it was only re-enforced in elle magazine as well and those shoes. And i second that fierce bracelet, so perfect. Ah, i can't wait to see those outfit posts.

  7. Claudia - Obrigada pela dica, minha nossa que acessorios incriveis, nao?

    H of CC - Thanks!
I love the grey vest in your last outfit post ;)

Kitty/anonymous - Thx! And wish you had a blog so I could see how you style your DVN sandals ;) Oh! If only Pedder had the multicoloured in a size 38/38.5...and on sale too!

icon - It'll probably be another 6 months 'til I can wear the coat (silly me!). But will certainly post some outfit shots with the vest or shoes soon...I've already worn both, haha!

DYDWD - Merci! It must be so cold in Paris at the moment!

  12. the burberry coat is to die for. i am so incredibly jealous now, i wanted the grey version of it on sale in hong kong but they only had the smallest size, like 34 or something, and it was tres annoying that i couldnt get it, but then providential because i got to buy the marni bag, which i love so much! so im very happy right now. :)

love those sandals, although they are toned down a little from the original loves, i still think they're fab!

ah! so glad im missing this hot weather. im splashing around in the rain and the cold like a duck in water... hahahahaha...

  13. I don't think there is a single label out there that can rival Burberry's coats.

  14. i love that burberry bracelet! it is amazing, lethal.

  15. mady dooijes - I totally agree! Shame I couldn't find it! Nor was a similar (more) stunning dress in my size, doh!

Amee - Oh, what a shame! I saw a few 37's floating around, but now they're gone, will keep a lookout for 37's while I look for my 38's ;)

the clothes horse - Hehe, thanks! I don't usually mind hot weather, but this week is a bit ridiculous. I'm not actually a fan of cold weather except for the fact that I get to wear coats! :)

hrose - A bag can be used 100x more than a coat, so I am the one that's jealous ;) Was in Belinda with hubby, and he spotted a gorgeous Marni bag (liked it more than me, which left me worried :)), but for now, I don't need any more (except maybe for a Chloe Paraty in Python, or Miu Miu Bow bag, or Chanel reissue...)

If you like cold/rain, then you're definitely in the right place, London has plenty of that! :) Hope you're having a ball!
    xx

    coco & hannah - I totally agree ;)

  16. kitty is mad about shoes she should have a blog but she's too lazy to do it so whenever i can i take shots of her outfits most especially her feet and post them on my blog:) i tried on her dries and yes they are amazingly comfortable. she wore them with black tights and they looked really great! you should try and find your size in on pedder because they're way cheap at this point. they even had the miu miu dragonfly sandals on sale! she was supposed to get me a pair only i didn't get her because she kept saying over the phone that the miu miu caterpillars are on sale. of course when she said caterpillar, i couldn't visualize what she was referring to... it remians a big funny story to us up to this day:) seriously, you should get the shoes... and the dragonflies if you like them:) because they're really adorable:)

  17. Frou Flou - That IS a funny story! :)

But hang on, are you from HK too? I thought you were from the Phillipines for some reason. I went to 'On Pedder's website and sent them a contact email asking about the DVN, but don't know if they ship internationally (assuming they do have the multicoloured shoes in my size, which I doubt). For now I will have to be happy I secured the cognac leather pair at least :)

  18. 110F?! I don't know how you were able to deal with it. That coat and the last vest are quite sweet. Even though you probably would have died if you wore it.

  19. Brigadeiro: I know Kitty and I laugh to this very day whenever one of us mentions caterpillar. you should have seen my face when she was trying to describe the shoe to me long distance. she kept insisting on the description caterpillar and i was like "urrr uhuh ok..." with a dumbfound and cnfused look on my face. and to answer your question, no i don't live in hong kong:) kitty and i are from the philippines but hong kong is like kitty's second home haha:) kitty mentioned that she will be messaging you later to give you the number of the store:) perhaps they will ship internationally if you persuade them:) well, your cognac pair is beautiful and the great thing about it is you can wear them with just about everything!

thank you for the comment by the way:) and, you don't need to have long legs to be able to wear socks i think:) of course you can pull it off---i think socks look even cute with midi skirts so if you're conscious about the leg part, you can do that but i still think you can pull off the sock thing;) thank god for our second toe haha!!!:D love your blog loads!:)

  25. I LOVE the coat - you don't understand how jealous I am. I'm totally the same though, I love buying stuff out of season to get them cheap and to build up the anticipation for the change in weather!
