No ordinary party...

Now that the Spring Summer 2010 collections have all been shown, we can resume our 'normal' program...

Last weekend I attended my friend's 30th birthday, and as a gourmet food aficionado, she served up some amazing food (and even had the menu stuck on the fridge), these were some of my favourites...

Mini-tortillas a la navarra (wrapped in prosciutto)

Tomato mint basil bocconccini crostini (with olive tapenade)

Balsamic glazed figlettes with gorgonzola and prosciutto

Individually boxed thai beef noodle salad

Roast duck pancakes...

And lastly, the piece de resistance: chocochoc rasberry tart (on a chocolate pastry crust) that rendered us speechless (no easy feat) followed by uhmming and ahhing like there was no tomorrow...

delish...

I'm afraid I did not have time to take an outfit shot, and being behind the camera I realised I had no photos of me, so I hope to sometime repeat this outfit, and will try to take a picture. I finally 'inaugurated' my Stella McCartney nude mesh sandals with lucite heel, and paired it with a silk Gucci (by Tom Ford SS'04) jacket (with a Jaclin Chouchana cotton racerback blouse in dark grey with fine diagonal stripes, Willow dove grey draped skirt and Sportsgirl grey leggings, for a 'sporty' vibe):

  8. OMG B., what a magnificent feast! I seriously couldn't choose a fave out of the savory dishes- they all look so delish. As for that chocolate masterpiece: truly awe-inspiring. Your friend should try out for the next Masterchef Australia- she could definitely be the next Julie or Poh.

The photos are fab too. I guess it helps when your subjects are this tantalising-looking. Sounds like a great evening : )

    xx

Love the sound of the outfit btw

  12. Thank you for your lovely comments everyone!

Anon. 1: That's what I told her, that she should go for Masterchef, but she laughed it off, I suppose some people cannot cook under pressure. Even my uncle, who's a world renowned chef has turned down appearing on Iron Chef several times (Iron Chef Michiba himself keeps asking him!), because he knows he would not be able to cook in front of a camera and with time ticking away, haha...Having said that, a friend of mine (originally from Oz, living in Tokyo) has come down back to Oz, and made it to round 3 so far (that was apparently the latest update), look forward to seeing whether he gets to go on TV! He had an amazing food blog, and even almost 10 years ago, had an amazing handwritten cookbook (only tried & tested good recipes were 'worthy') and cooked the most delicious food, even back then...

anon. 2 - apologies for not having complied with your 2 requests as yet. I had taken a picture of my sitting room, but it's changed since! Good thing: ugly sofa gone, bad thing: hubby's new surround sound system, as a sound purist, his speakers are big and I don't find them pretty, and he removed some parts from my TV cabinet to fit in his central speaker, eek! And the shoe post...*sigh* keep procrastinating as it seems so hard, haha...haven't been feeling 100% the past two months or so, but am starting to feel better (but still exhausted all the time), so hope to do these soon ;)

Xmas wishlist is an easier 'demand', will attempt that asap!

    xx
