My favourites for day 5 of PFW SS'10:
Givenchy
I was a little disappointed with Balenciaga & Balmain's collections this season, however Riccardo Tisci (thanks hrose for correcting me, I thought one name and typed the other) definitely did not disappoint for Givenchy. Starting with the beautifully structured jackets and geometric prints, followed by the most divine draping in light-as-air silk...

Sonia Rykiel
I don't usually pay much attention to Sonia Rykiel's collections, but this show was so full of colour and fun I could not resist posting a few pieces, love the silk chiffon jumpsuit.

Hussein Chalayan
Hussein seemed to take a break from architectural pieces, and showed a very 'resort' vibe in his SS'10 collection:

Emanuel Ungaro
Ignoring whatever involvement Lindsey Lohan may have had with this collection, I did like like the long blue draped dress below, and the very 'genie' pink pants (you know how I am partial to a nice pair of harem pants). The draped dresses and elegant jumpsuit also caught my eye:

And of course, there was Dries Van Noten, but that deserves a whole post devoted to it on its own...

It was Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy! and yes you're right, this collection was incredible. Balenciaga was a flop for me as well and balmain has always been a bit eh. i'm not really into that whole disco trash look. but monochrome tempered with ethnicity, like some traveller stumbling into high society after wandering through Marrakesh for the past 3 years... i love it!
ReplyDeletedries was great. can't wait to read your post on it all!

Awesome hey! Givenchy collection with all the graphic lines and retro futurism shapes in the first couple of pictures.
ReplyDeleteGivenchy's collection stunned me. It is absolutely gorgeous! xox
ReplyDeleteI also wasn't loving Balenciaga. But why don't you normally go for Sonia Rykiel? Loved Givenchy, though.
ReplyDeleteLove the Givenchy line... and SR looks fab too!
ReplyDeleteTHE BEST FOR MY Givenchy !!!! THE GEOMETRIC PRINTS and the female structure and flattering dresses ..... NO ME HE HECHO NADA EN EL PELO, SIMPLEMENTE HACÍA MUCHO SOL Y SE VE MÁS CLARITO CIELO, MANY MANY MANY THANKS FOR YOU COMMENT, YOU ARE FEEL AND LOVELY, A MUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
ReplyDeleteThose pink genie pants are so me (at Ungaro) ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso loving the draped pieces of the Givenchy collection-- although, as the NYTimes noted, it's not something we haven't seen before?
xx D
Love the Givenchy graphics!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know everyone made fun of Lohan's contribution at Ungaro but I adored the collection!!
Fabulous post, darling!

Happy friday to you, Brigadeiro.
ReplyDeleteI truly adore this white Givenchy dress and the shoulder parts in another picture are absolutely gorgeous.
I was so in love with the Balenciaga heels...
I could buy them all ;)
Enjoy your weekend in Down Under!
I adore Givenchy-love everything esp those chifon layered dresses xx
ReplyDeleteI adored Givenchy too, he can do no wrong in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteI am so with you about Sonia R. This is the first season I've been drawn to her, don't know why. Every single look you've chosen is gorgeous. Also loved Dior (always and forever!) and Sharon Wauchob from these early days.
ReplyDeleteHussein Chalayan always fascinates me and some of these pieces are lovely. However he's not as OTT these days. To be honest, I miss the days when he'd incorporate furniture and upholstery into his clothes : )
xx
Loved Givenchy too! And was VERY disappointed by Balmain too... And you're so right, Chalayan's collection does have a resort feeling to it :)
ReplyDeletelovely choice !!

ReplyDeletethe photodiarist - I do like Sonia Rykiel pieces (especially striped & cashmere pieces), just never really took much notice of her runway collections, for some reason...
