Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Day 5

My favourites for day 5 of PFW SS'10:

Givenchy

I was a little disappointed with Balenciaga & Balmain's collections this season, however Riccardo Tisci (thanks hrose for correcting me, I thought one name and typed the other) definitely did not disappoint for Givenchy. Starting with the beautifully structured jackets and geometric prints, followed by the most divine draping in light-as-air silk...

Sonia Rykiel

I don't usually pay much attention to Sonia Rykiel's collections, but this show was so full of colour and fun I could not resist posting a few pieces, love the silk chiffon jumpsuit.

Hussein Chalayan

Hussein seemed to take a break from architectural pieces, and showed a very 'resort' vibe in his SS'10 collection:

Emanuel Ungaro

Ignoring whatever involvement Lindsey Lohan may have had with this collection, I did like like the long blue draped dress below, and the very 'genie' pink pants (you know how I am partial to a nice pair of harem pants). The draped dresses and elegant jumpsuit also caught my eye:

And of course, there was Dries Van Noten, but that deserves a whole post devoted to it on its own...

  1. It was Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy! and yes you're right, this collection was incredible. Balenciaga was a flop for me as well and balmain has always been a bit eh. i'm not really into that whole disco trash look. but monochrome tempered with ethnicity, like some traveller stumbling into high society after wandering through Marrakesh for the past 3 years... i love it!

dries was great. can't wait to read your post on it all!

  4. I also wasn't loving Balenciaga. But why don't you normally go for Sonia Rykiel? Loved Givenchy, though.

  7. Those pink genie pants are so me (at Ungaro) ;)

Also loving the draped pieces of the Givenchy collection-- although, as the NYTimes noted, it's not something we haven't seen before?

  12. I am so with you about Sonia R. This is the first season I've been drawn to her, don't know why. Every single look you've chosen is gorgeous. Also loved Dior (always and forever!) and Sharon Wauchob from these early days.

Hussein Chalayan always fascinates me and some of these pieces are lovely. However he's not as OTT these days. To be honest, I miss the days when he'd incorporate furniture and upholstery into his clothes : )

    xx
