Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 Pt 3A: Japanese in Paris - Sacai, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto & Tao

Issey Miyake

Loved creative director Dai Fujiwara's work for Issey Miyake's SS'11 collection...the textures (using the house's signature micro pleats and fabric technology), the tailoring, draping, shapes, prints and colours:

Sacai

Chitosan Abe focused on injecting luxury and volume into casual retail favourites like trenches, nautical tops, and cabled knits. There were blouse-y satin gussets set into the sides of caped and cropped trenches, and sleeveless flak jackets that zipped open to reveal the ends of a cashmere cardigan sewn inside. Flaring, pleated skirts came in one piece with a lacy slip. Elsewhere, Abe printed sailor stripes on a paisley cardigan with chiffon gussets that laced up the side in keeping with her nautical motif.

Tao

Tao Kurihara contained her poufy volumes in a longer and leaner silhouette for Ss'11:
