Stella McCartney for Target

Today was the release date for Stella McCartney's 2nd collection for Target in Australia. Three years ago there was a huge hype surrounding her first collection for Target here in Oz, and I fell for it, buying several items full-priced because 'they' said items were limited and would sell out very quickly. Sadly, a few weeks later I saw several items on sale racks at incredibly low prices. It took me a year or so to wear some of my pieces, because I was too embarrassed to wear them out, as it seemed every single person had the same blouse (it was a very recognizable print). Having said that, my Stella McCartney cashmere/wool oversized zip cardigan is one of my most-used item in my closet even today, and I wouldn't have minded buying another one.

Anyhoo...I will not be rushing to Target this time to fight with the crowds to buy a 'Stella' piece, especially since the prices are not that 'cheap'. The tulip trench I like is $249, and the gathered silk dress is $299. I have not seen these items in person, but I hope the price is reflected in the quality of these garments (it is still a Target piece after all).

These are my favourite pieces of the collection (you can see the rest of the collection HERE - just click on the 'apparel' link), and here is hoping they will be on the sale rack in a few weeks time:

On another note, today is a MUCH more exciting day for a totally different reason, it is my not-so-little sister's birthday:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY 'J'!!!

Wish I were there to give you big 'Forever Friends' bear hugs & lots of smooches in person!

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!

  3. I am so in love with the collection and I am more than jealous that we don't get a shot at this in the U.S.

    Thanks for the pictures. :)

  6. The Stella pieces look gorgeous! I have to say that the Australian collabs seem to be better than what we get in the U.S.

  7. I tried these on... much smaller sizes then last time. The sizes are based on the 'Hot Option' range which is for teens. Unlike last time not everyone is chasing for the small(last time the sizes were huge this time they even have a size 6).

The quality of the cloths are actually really good the ones that you picked were also my favourite pieces. I want these but will be waiting for the sale...

  8. zhen - Ooh, that's great to hear that the quality of the clothes is good! Thanks for the info re: sizing, last collection was definitely the oversized look (so very forgiving, which made it excellent as maternity wear too, haha!), this collection is definitely more tailored.

  9. A friend and I (she's a size 6, I'm upwards of that) went and neither of us thought the quality was fantastic, it was okay. Sizing was way off! All we heard in the change rooms was complaints of 'but I thought I was a 10?' and 'I can't fit my arms through these.'
The colours were lovely and the cuts look great on the model, but these pieces are for girls who lack curves, I didn't buy anything and my friend bought the collarless jacket. But we both suspect that after one dryclean it will look pretty horrendous. For me this was a collection which looks great in photos but failed in reality.

  10. Thanks for the 'review' Jen! Sadly, curves I do not lack, so sadly these may not be for me after all...

  11. I tried on several items and the fit was horrendous! Apart from running very small the cut is not right - particularly on that trench coat. I'm sad to say it was all a bit disappointing.

  12. I fell for Gilt Groupe's hype on the Mulberry bag for Target - all the hype, and when I got the bag I was sorely disappointed. Oh Target, sigh.

  15. Just came back from Target Centrepoint here in Adelaide and I tried on the tulip trench and the tulip dress with tie and I *really* like it! The fabric is a cotton and silk mix and it's quite substantial; heavy (in a good way!). If anything I would get these two items.

I also tried on the blazers (both single and double breasted) and I'd like to get one also but my question to you CC (or to anyone of the readers)is this, for a girl that has quite sizeable ta-tas would you rec single or double breasted blazers? And button or leave unbutton?

  16. Anonymous - thx for your report!

cewek - ditto above! :) re: tatas & blazers (hehe), I highly recommend AVOIDING double-breasted blazers, and if the fit is right, the single-breasted blazers can be worn buttoned or unbuttoned (most of the time mine are unbuttoned).
    HTH!

PS. Would you say the tulip dress/trench (I also liked the skirt) are worth the $$$? (if say, we don't want to risk those selling out before they go on sale)?

  17. Thanks! Hahahaha! I'll keep that in mind.

I would say get the tulip dress/trench! I know I will be as soon as I can get out of work and depending if it's still on the racks. I tried on the white in s12 but found that my cups were runneth over as it were. The only s14 left was in the navy, so I put it back on the rack and prayed to the Goddess of all things shopping that it'll be there still at 5ish.
